Since Gleeman is a family name for some folks in the world, I chose to go with a modified version. There is an inside story about why I write it as Glee-Mann, and to find out, find me at a tri-city event this summer.
A medieval itinerant singer; a minstrel. [Middle English gleman, from Old English glēoman : glēo, minstrelsy; see ghel-2 in the Appendix of Indo-European roots + man, man; see MAN.] - from American Heritage Dictionary.
Several synonyms include troubadour, bard, harper, jongleur, musician, performance player, poet, and show singer. - from Thesaurus.com.
Decades of life experiences, which formerly were considered over and done with, became fuel to growing a crop of truth based tall tales. I have sought a reason for being and finally discovered the identity I was born with and never brave enough to embrace. Bringing life and joy to the part of the world I can influence has begun and hope to continue.
A storytelling identity covers more than tall tales spoken on a Friday night. I have done a lot of writing over the years and was one Senior Seminar away from a minor in English. Over a decade ago I began a novel (yeah, who hasn't) and left it unfinished. Partly because I figured out how it ended, I didn't feel the need to continue, but mostly from doubt and unbelief. Early on, I tied everything I did to making money. I just couldn't justify anything without some chance of income being attached. Now, I am letting go of that burden and pursuing various aspects of storytelling.
As things get finished, links to them will be released here. Once I have a few stories and tunes recorded, there will be a page for those.
"Don't know where it's going but we're making good time!"
Marty Robbins, Johnny Horton, Jonny Cash, John Denver (I sense a pattern), and Tennessee Ernie Ford combined with some old school musicals and adventure movies, including Paint Your Wagon, Hobbit, and others combined to enhance the Storytelling experiences. I've begun learning the three-string cigar box guitar.
I'm also experimenting with mobile karaoke options. Time will tell.
Delve into the recesses of a fanciful world, some of which is so true it's scary.
Please contact me if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Yep, and can travel if needed. A deposit would be required of 50% of the performance fee not including travel. Full payment is due upon arrival and setup. Contact me to find out what the costs would be including any significant travel.
Absolutely do! With a portable stage trailer, I can do outdoor performances as long as no other loud performers are close by. I will be participating in some different events in the Tri-Cities of East Tennessee as a busker, accepting donations from listeners. I dedicate some time for performing at assisted living facilities also at no charge and no tips requested. Contact me to find out if your event or location would qualify.
Heck no!!! JUST KIDDING! Yes, if I have to cancel due to illness or other personal emergency, the entire deposit is returned. If severe weather causes the event to be cancelled, the entire deposit is returned. If you cancel with a minimum of seventy two (72) hours, then the entire deposit is returned. However, less notice than seventy two (72) hours forfeits the entire deposit.
